Chinook's
In the Loop

CHINOOK WUSDHU

Health and Fitness Theorist & Movement Engineer

Chinook fell in love with movement at an early age.  Extremely competitive and active by age 9, he enjoyed everything from Pop Warner football to martial arts.  His love for activity, sports and exercise continued to grow.  No organized sport escaped - football, basketball, track & field, soccer, tennis, swimming & diving, triathlons and more.  Often elected captain, he had a knack for understanding and winning games.  He also loved dance and started his own successful dance troupe at SOC.

In '76, Chinook's life took a significant turn when he severely injured his back leading to major surgery.  Life was altered.  For a short while he was disillusioned and confused.  Finally, he realized he had two options - a life long 'pity party' or 'a proactive approach to his own healing and recovery'.

He asked the question 'Given where this surgery leaves me....how can I reach my optimal health?'  He realized that a lot of things that he loved to do are very intense and high impact and no longer viable options.  He began to research internal arts and holistic approaches to health and well being.

In '86, Chinook started practicing Tai Chi at the Dallas Academy of Tai Chi and for the last 22 years has used these principles to strengthen his mind, body and spirit.  Never losing his competitiveness, he won major international championships in '98, '99, '00, '02, '04 and the International Martial Arts Championship in Houston in 2006.  His insatiable appetite and thirst for true health and wellness continues to thrive.

Reading and researching everything he could get his hands on eventually led Chinook to yoga.  He found his personal yoga practice helped fill the void for intense training and led to even greater mental and spiritual rewards.  Chinook continues to research, keeping Tsada members abreast of new discoveries affecting our well being.

Chinook's unconventional approach to fitness embraces a simple motto - 'if something works, I incorporate it and if something doesn't work, I eliminate it'.  Using health and fitness modalities from all over the world led to his 'Multisculpt' training method.  A work-out pioneer, he was one of the first to fuse multiple training methods in to a holistic system.

Chinook has honed his teaching over the last 30+ years, sharing his understanding of movement and health and the benefits of yoga and tai chi at various health and fitness, martial arts, and yoga facilities. His style is unique and influenced by his continuing study with premier yogis such as Dharma Mittra, Rodney Yee, Bryan Kest, Shiva Rea, Baron Baptiste, Eric Schiffman, Tias Little, David Sunshine, and Ally David, among others. He continues to research and participate in classes and workshops in pilates, Lotte Berk method, Alexander Technique, Bua Gua, Qi Gong, Tai Bo, kickboxing, aromatherapy, biomechanics, sound and color therapy, and more, keeping his teaching, dynamic and cutting edge.
